My upbringing, my experience in the nonprofit sector and time I have spent as a foster parent in the world of social services led me to run as a Democrat for Kentucky State House of Representatives. I was born and raised in Louisville, KY and come from a very blue collar family, my mother went back to school when I was two years old to become a RN nurse and my father opened a small motorcycle shop after going to school on the GI bill. Both my parents were raised by single mothers, so working hard was a foundational value instilled in me. I grew up going to public schools and graduated from Stephens College for Women in Columbia, MO. I returned back to Louisville after living in Los Angeles and Chicago to raise a family and work in the community. I am passionate about protecting women and children and addressing the fact that KY continues to be the leading state in the nation for child abuse and the many factors that contribute to this crisis.
  • My vision is to make Kentucky an equitable state that understands when you invest in people and lift them up, the benefits from that are seen in every aspect across the state, allowing people to thrive instead of survive. You can expect to see me be the voice for those who are often left behind and left out completely. I will strive each day to build relationships with others in Frankfort to make sure we are fully representing and putting everyone's best interest first and not just a narrow group of people.
  • When women participate in politics, it helps advance gender equality and affects both the range of policy issues that get considered and the types of solutions that are proposed. Research shows that whether a legislator is male or female has a distinct impact on their policy priorities. This is why it is imperative that women are present in politics to represent the concerns of women and other marginalized voters and help improve the responsiveness of policy making and governance.
  • I am not disconnected from the issues because of my many years in the nonprofit community working with hundreds of organizations trying to meet the needs of the challenges we continue to have. As a foster parent for almost seven years with the state, I have also seen first hand the challenges, inefficiencies, and down right crisis we are confronted with that are affecting thousands of children and families who are struggling.
Childhood abuse continues to be prevalent in Kentucky and we continue to be the highest ranked state.

Mental Health & Substance Abuse Programs

Healthcare and privacy protections

Universal Childcare

Education - Tuition free programs should be offered to meet the demands of our community and where we are lacking in workforce development. These program areas should include, early childhood education, K-12 education, social work, mental health programs/majors and nursing programs.

Universal Food Assistance Program - it is absurd and completely avoidable to have anyone in our country experience hunger and food insecurities.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Kentucky

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
