I'm a mother, a wife, a daughter, a small business owner. I'm a citizen of the United States that is concerned that we are living in a corpocracy not a democracy.
  • Given that the state Comptroller General & Treasurer's offices have lost $5 Billion through accounting errors and missing bank accounts - I believe that the state legislature needs to begin to be a bit more transparent and hawkish on their oversight of these offices. With my 20+ years of experience in public accounting, I know and understand accounting systems and want to make sure that the state is doing everything it can to check and verify the reports coming out of the state's accounting functions.
  • Healthy populations contribute to the state's wellbeing. The state should be doing more to ensure that constituents have access to good local healthcare. I want to make sure that we are expanding services in South Carolina so that in the event of a medical emergency, those in rural populations do not need to drive +30 minutes to seek care OR wait 30 minutes for help to get to them. I also believe that the disadvantaged & vulnerable populations of our state should have access to healthcare. I want to expand Medicaid for the disabled and children that are living below the poverty line.
  • As a women I believe that it is important that we have equal representation in government. The LACK of women legislators in South Carolina is appalling. The experiences of women are SO different than men and those experiences provide us with a different perspective on life; informing our decisions under a different light. In order to have well rounded legislation we really MUST have a diverse and multi perspective representation in order to meet the best compromises that work well for ALL citizens of our state.
>Government oversight

>Privacy
>Healthcare

>Education
Transparency. Candidates should own their TRUTH and be eager to meet with constituents. Elected officials should be citizen leaders not career politicians.
To work for the constituents of their district - from all walks of life, religious backgrounds, economic status, etc. An elected official must be ethical and work for compromise in order to get the business of government done.
I worked in a monogram shop for my neighbor when I was 12-13.
One of mutual respect and understanding where we can accomplish the business of the people.
Climate change - we are a state on an ocean that is warming. Mega storms are becoming more and more common place. We need to make sure we have the infrastructure in place to support our costal communities, ensure property integrity, and emergency systems in place for catastrophic events.
YES! These are people you need to work with in order to get the business of government done. It is absolutely necessary to have relationships with folks so that you can relate to them on a personal level to understand what moves them in this world.
As a third party candidate, there is one story that I hear over and over - the two party system isn't working - government is corrupt - I'm not being heard. Enough people are so disenfranchised by politics they have stopped engaging. That is my biggest worry - that people become complacent with the "way things are" and don't try to make things better.
Finance

Ethics
Interstate Cooperation

Banking and Insurance
I believe the state could be doing more to be financially transparent. Not only between the Comptroller General and Treasurer's office but also with other departments that continue to ask for funds - withOUT using the funds they were granted in the prior legislative session.
Currently South Carolina does not have a grass roots ballot initiative processes. Instead these state wide votes on legislative changes have to be approved by the legislature for ballot access. I do believe that we should have the ability to allow the population to bring their directives to a popular vote without having to push through a legislative agenda that is already VERY full.

I am a mother, a wife, a small business owner. I am a CPA with 18 years of experience in public accounting and understand the importance of proper planning.
  • I understand business & finance. I am interested in new technology and the importance of safeguarding assets. I want to make sure that the treasurer's office is led by someone who understands the dynamics of analytical planning so that South Carolina is ready for the future.
  • It is unethical for any state official to use state program dollars to further their political agenda. I will be introducing legislation that inhibits politicians from using advertising dollars for state programs to broadcast their name or face.
  • As an Alliance Party candidate I am term limited by my party to 3 terms in office. We need a world with citizen leaders, not a political class.
Educating constituents from cradle to grave is a personal passion of mine. It is never to early to learn about the power of the dollar and understand how to save for your future or the future of those you love. I also think it is imperative that the state treasurer be able to do the math, understand monetary trends, engage in the broader world, and be open to new ideas and emerging technology. We can only move forward together if we seek to understand each other.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: It is the dream of the underdog. Finding a truth within yourself that allows you to rise above all the chaos and succeed despite the worst of the world.
Have you ever seen the snake on a penny?

I am a firm believer in the endless possibilities of hope and love. I question the status quo and seek to help those who are less fortunate. I am a small business owner, mother, wife, daughter, sister. I want to make sure that I leave the world a better place for my children, all children, and generations to come. I believe the best way to teach and lead is by example, as our actions speak louder than words. We the people, have the capabilities to create compromise, work together, and promote common sense solutions to today's issues; we need only to exercise those capabilities and as an elected official I plan to do so.
  • All levels of government should have term limits. I plan to introduce legislation that would implement term limits across the state of South Carolina.
  • Voters should choose their politicians; politicians should not choose their voters. I plan to introduce legislation that would end partisan gerrymandering in the state of South Carolina.
  • From energy consumption to home building, state wide internet access to a modernized legislature, South Carolina needs to analyze the data, think harder, and plan smarter for our future.
I am personally passionate, as are 70%+ of voters in the United States. that all levels of government should have term limits. This is why I am running as an Alliance Party Candidate. The Alliance Party limits the number of terms a candidate can serve in office. I believe so wholeheartedly in term limits that I am running for office with a political party that requires it.
I look for the silver lining of any situation. Nothing and no one is perfect, but you have to be able to find the good in something, even if it is just to know there is something good. I am thankful for every opportunity that has ever been given to me by those who believe in me. I trust we are all here for a purpose and that our destinies, whether beautiful or not, are of our own making.
To remain ethical, transparent, and follow through on passing legislation to end political gerrymandering in SC and implement term limits for elected officials at all levels of government.
I'm not here to leave legacies. Political office is not about a legacy it is about doing your part, pulling your weight, and getting things done.
One of the first historical events I remembered as a child was the Berlin Wall being torn down, I was eight. I remember the hope removing that wall generated. The excitement was thrilling. I think it was an early precursor to the open floor plan rage of the early 2000's.
Giving birth, it's not easy, but worth it.
No, I think that it is important to have legislators with experiences from outside of government to insure that a wide range of laws are enacted, with diverse and well debated points of view.
Access to information inequities, energy and healthcare costs.
I believe the best relationship is one that is balanced; where both branches share the burdens of household chores (doing things that aren't fun or easy, because they need to be done). As with all healthy relationships there should be some element of compromise.
Yes! How else are you supposed to accomplish anything? The whole point of a legislature is to work with others in order to manage, direct, and affect change for your constituents.
• Create an independent Citizens Redistricting Commission to draw fair maps

• Pass a Constitutional Amendment to allow citizens to vote for fair maps
No, I think it's time that politicians think outside historical references.
"Roads and traffic in SC suck." I hear this all the time. It is probably the third most common thing I talk to folks about after term limits and gerrymandering.

3. Place investment earnings back into the general fund as required by law.[5][6]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

Campaign finance reform, governmental transparency and accountability.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[6]

Honest, humble, and courageous.[6]
What qualities do you possess that would make you a successful officeholder?
I know how to laugh at myself and enjoy being part of a team.[6]

What kind of skills or expertise do you believe would be the most helpful for the holders of this office to possess?
A financial background with a clear understanding of accounting systems and budgeting.[6]
