Biography
Scott Anderson was born in Billings, Montana. He earned a high school diploma from Wheat Ridge High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in 1977, and a graduate degree from the University of Colorado in 1980.[2]

The city of Gilbert, Arizona, held elections for mayor and city council on November 8, 2016. A primary election took place on August 30, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 1, 2016. Two of the six city council seats were up for election.[3] Scott Anderson and incumbent Jared Taylor defeated Jim Torgenson and Joel Anderson in the Gilbert City Council at-large seats general election.[4]

|- Our economy has been important to establishing and maintaining our quality of life in Gilbert. As we approach build-out we must consider strategies to attract strong businesses and an employment base that can thrive in Gilbert while supporting business. The strength of our economy has been small business development. Our policies should reflect our support of small business.
- Gilbert's prosperity has always been a result of preserving excellence also known as protecting our quality of life. Our prosperity is the connection people make with one another to foster the "small town feel". This connection is made by strong neighborhoods connected by amenities such as parks and trails. Strong design standards that foster community pride are important to our prosperity. Our prosperity will also depend much on how safe the community feels. Public safety will be a priority to sustain our quality of life.
- Gilbert is in the business of creating wealth for its residents. Building wealth is done by providing and maintaining infrastructure that supports business and residential development. As we approach a population of over 300,000 it will be important to provide and update streets, utilities and other services. Our objective is to keep Gilbert from facing the natural urban decay that plagues so many large communities.
