Scott Benson
Scott Benson is a member of the Detroit City Council in Michigan, representing District 3. He assumed office in 2014. His current term ends on January 1, 2026.
Benson is running for re-election to the Detroit City Council to represent District 3 in Michigan. He is on the ballot in the general election on November 4, 2025. The primary for this office on August 5, 2025, was canceled.
Biography
Benson received a bachelor's degree from Hampton University and a master's degree in urban planning from Wayne State University. He also graduated from the National Naval War College. Benson served in the U.S. Coast Guard. His professional experience includes working for Midtown Detroit, Inc., managing small business development in the Midtown area of Detroit.[1]

Benson was opposed by Brian Banks, Christopher Cavanagh, Valerie Kindle, and Gregory Robinson in the Democratic primary on August 7.[5] Benson was defeated by Brian Banks in the Democratic primary.[6]
