Campaign website
Black's campaign website stated the following:
Issues:
Issue: Safer Streets
Public Safety is a critical part of the foundation that makes a great city. The Citizens of NLV expect and deserve to live in a safe community. Although we all must play a role in keeping our neighborhoods safe through being good neighbors and getting involved, we rely daily on the brave members of the law enforcement and first responders. We need our police department to be the very best. Let's make sure the departments we rely on for help and safety have the tools they need in order to do their job.
Issue: Expanding Our Economy
The City of North Las Vegas has made positive economic gains over the past few years but we have a long way to go. Another key element of a great city is a strong and diverse economy. NLV must focus on attracting new business and industry to the city. The city must also treat current businesses and business owners as “our best customer.” As councilman, Scott has been working to create an even better climate for business.
Issue: Building A Brand
The power and strength of any good brand is built on public perception and opinion. The City of North Las Vegas has many wonderful things to offer its residents and future residents. Scott has spent his time working to build a brand for North Las Vegas that conveys the message that NLV is the premier city in southern Nevada to live, work and run a business.
Issue: Investing In Our Future
Tomorrow is as important as today. Scott is focused on creating a city that breeds innovation and attracts the country's brightest minds. Scott wants to leave a better future for our children and he understands that in order to do that we can't just think short term but must have a long term plan in place that fosters growth.
Issue: Confronting Addiction
Nevada is among the states that have been hardest hit by the opioid epidemic, and the residents of North Las Vegas have seen the fallout firsthand. This is an issue in which we all stand united, and we support Attorney General Ford’s decision not to participate in any multi-state settlement as we continue to fight for our fair share to help address this ongoing crisis.
Issue: Neighborhood Revitalization
Scott is devoted to protecting and revitalizing neighborhoods in North Las Vegas. In the more mature parts of our City, multiple efforts are underway to rehabilitate and revitalize the community, one block at a time. And for EVERYONE, Scott is hard at work upgrading our city’s parks - and building new ones as we grow.
