Candidate Connection

D. Scott Donaldson participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on April 7, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and D. Scott Donaldson's responses follow below.[2]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1) Health Care, single payor system similar to every other industrialized nation wherein they live longer and their heath care costs are less

2) Education. All of our children deserve equal access to educational opportunities. Currently there is 1.2 Trillion dollars in high educational debt, this must be relieved. It is a disservice to liberate our children through education and at the same time enslave them to debt they cannot repay.
3) Jobs. There is no greater stimulus to the production of jobs than a healthy and educated society.[3][4]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

Health Care. I'm a doctor (urologist) and see the daily battles of my fellow citizens struggle to provide health care for themselves and for their families. Why one group of Americans would refuse health care to another is beyond my understanding. We need a single payor health care system which provides access for all of us and removes the profit driven rewards of our Medical Industrial Complex. There is 3.5 Trillion dollars in the health care industry, that's enough to care for all of our citizens.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[4]

Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. D. Scott Donaldson answered the following:

What legacy would you like to leave?

As it stands now, I know my children will not have access to health care. If nothing else, they and their generation and the generations to follow deserve the same access my generation enjoys and expects.[4]
What is your favorite holiday? Why?
Mardis Gras. Its like Christmas, except there is no stress, everyone is outside running around watching parades, catching worthless trinkets and it is not, say again, it is not a drunk fest. Mardis Gras is about family and its about fun.[4]
What is your favorite book? Why?
Le Mis: it's about grace and sacrifice and family and duty and redemption.[4]
If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?
Iron Man[4]
What do you perceive to be the United States’ greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?
managing our national debt[4]
