Drake ran in the 2012 election for Georgia State Senate District 9. Drake ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on July 31, 2012. Incumbent Don Balfour (R) defeated Travis Bowden and Steve Ramey in the Republican primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[1][3] Drake was defeated in the general election.[4]
