Biography

Education

Field earned a high school diploma from A&M Consolidated High School, an undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in 1992, and his J.D. from University of Texas School of Law in 1995.[2]

Career

Before serving on the Third District, Field worked in private practice at The Field Law Firm. Prior to that, he was a partner at York, Keller & Field, L.L.P. He began his career as a law clerk for the Hon. Raul Gonzalez and entered private practice at the firm Baker Botts, L.L.P.[2][3]

Field defeated Madeleine Connor in the Republican primary on May 29, winning 66.47% of the vote. He defeated incumbent Diane Henson in the general election on November 6, 2012, with 51.7% of the vote.[4][5]

I am an experienced judge with over 10 years on the bench at the appellate and trial court levels. Beyond that, I have over 20 years of additional experience in complex litigation and appeals at the highest level of civil practice. I am also a husband, married for 35 years and the proud father of three adult sons.
  • I will apply the law as written and keep my personal views out of opinions.
  • I have experience tailored to the exclusive jurisdiction of the 15th Court of Appeals--complex business appeals, constitutional questions, and appeals in which the State of Texas is a party.
  • Judges must be humble and understand their role in the system, while also bold enough to make difficult decisions that perhaps are not popular politically or otherwise.
The right to a jury trial and ensuring that all Texans are able to exercise their constitutional rights without government interference.
