Campaign themes
2014
Frantz's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]
“ | I will always believe in the principle of a government run by the people and for the people with a focus on fiscal responsibility, low taxes, accountability, and efficiency while caring for the neediest, being responsive and empowering individuals, families and traditional institutions. The fact is that Connecticut state government continues to grow beyond its means and is reaching too far in its capacity to regulate our lives and our businesses. It has become the kind of government that the industrious, resourceful and caring people of our district simply do not need.[2] | ” |

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Frantz and his wife have four children, all of whom are named after mountains. Frantz, who has climbed several of the world's tallest mountains, received national media attention for this distinction in 2015 after telling the Greenwich Time "with tongue in cheek" that he was not pleased with President Obama's renaming of Alaska's Mt. McKinley to Denali. He joked that his son was not "going to run out and change his birth certificate any time soon," and that Obama could rename the mountain after scaling it, which Frantz did in 1997.[14][15] Frantz's comments became the subject of a monologue joke on the September 3, 2015, edition of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.[16]
