Scott is a Certified Fraud Examiner with over 35 years of experience in finance, accounting, and audit. He has proudly served the taxpayers of Collin County since 2013. He currently serves as a legal clerk in Justice Court 3 and previously served in the Auditor’s office as an Internal Auditor going throughout the county to ensure that county offices are in compliance with all applicable statues, rules, and regulations and making sure that county assets paid for with taxpayer funds are property protected and accounted for.

During his time at the county, he also spent over 3 years auditing the tax office and over 2 years as the Financial Operation Manager for the Tax Assessor Collector’s Office.

Since joining the county, he has earned the following certifications from the Texas Assessor Collector Association: • Professional Deputy Assessor Collector (PDAC) • Professional County Collector (PCC) • Certified Tax Office Professional (CTOP) Keeping up with statutes, rules, and regulations is extremely important to Scott and he takes advantage of every training opportunity available to learn and better serve the citizens of Collin County.

Prior to joining the county, Scott worked in several multi-billion dollar corporations such as: • Wal-Mart • Tyson Foods • Coca Cola Enterprises • Aaron’s lease to own.

Holding such positions as Senior Auditor, Trainer, Regional Audit Supervisor, and Seminar Instructor for the Institute of Internal Auditors.
  • Accountability. It is important that all elected officials are accountable to the taxpayers. I will be there to ensure that the tax office is fully transparent and keeps taxpayers informed of what is going on in the tax office. It is important that the taxpayers see how much is collected and that it is properly disbursed to the cities and schools so that they can provide the services that the public depend on.
  • Accessibility. From holding seminars about how the property tax system works to one-on-one meetings with taxpayers, I promise to be accessible to the taxpayers. I will be in the office daily and available to the taxpayers. I am also planning to hold town halls and meet the tax collector events throughout the year. I am active in the community and have every intention to continue to be so.
  • Advocacy. As the tax collector, I will be a source of knowledge to learn how the property tax system works, how to protest high appraisals, and keep up with the budget process to ensure that their money is protected and not wasted. I will also work with the lawmakers in Austin to continue to help lower property taxes and change the laws to help taxpayers. It is very important to me to have a good working relationship with members of the legislature so that I can help share the concerns of the taxpayers that I talk to.
I am passionate about protecting property rights and working to lower property taxes so that people do not get taxed out of their homes. I also want to ensure that as an elected official, I do everything to ensure that taxpayer money is not wasted and spent wisely.
I have met many great people over time, but someone I have always looked up to is my father. He is a good man that loves the Lord and has a giving spirit. He has always been someone who was willing to help others in need, even though we were never rich, he still gave what he could.
Honesty and integrity are very important especially for an elected official. The public should be able to trust that the people they elect will do what they say and to follow all of the laws and regulations.
I have a servants heart and live everyday as it says in Colossians 3:23. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
To protect taxpayer money and make sure that the funds are properly disbursed to the correct city or school so that they can provide the services that the public expect.
I want to be known as someone who wanted to serve others and did everything possible to leave things better than I find them.
I remember watching the space shuttle explosion on tv. We all watched it in school. I was 14
My first real job was a file clerk and I worked my way up to being a senior auditor for the company as I put myself through college. Worked there for over 11 years.
I have been endorsed by many conservative groups throughout Collin County, many elected officials at the state, county, and local level and many taxpayers from all around the county.
I believe in full transparency and that government should be fully accountable to the taxpayers.
