|During his time at the county, he also spent over 3 years auditing the tax office and over 2 years as the Financial Operation Manager for the Tax Assessor Collector’s Office.
Since joining the county, he has earned the following certifications from the Texas Assessor Collector Association: • Professional Deputy Assessor Collector (PDAC) • Professional County Collector (PCC) • Certified Tax Office Professional (CTOP) Keeping up with statutes, rules, and regulations is extremely important to Scott and he takes advantage of every training opportunity available to learn and better serve the citizens of Collin County.
Prior to joining the county, Scott worked in several multi-billion dollar corporations such as: • Wal-Mart • Tyson Foods • Coca Cola Enterprises • Aaron’s lease to own.
Holding such positions as Senior Auditor, Trainer, Regional Audit Supervisor, and Seminar Instructor for the Institute of Internal Auditors.- Accountability. It is important that all elected officials are accountable to the taxpayers. I will be there to ensure that the tax office is fully transparent and keeps taxpayers informed of what is going on in the tax office. It is important that the taxpayers see how much is collected and that it is properly disbursed to the cities and schools so that they can provide the services that the public depend on.
- Accessibility. From holding seminars about how the property tax system works to one-on-one meetings with taxpayers, I promise to be accessible to the taxpayers. I will be in the office daily and available to the taxpayers. I am also planning to hold town halls and meet the tax collector events throughout the year. I am active in the community and have every intention to continue to be so.
- Advocacy. As the tax collector, I will be a source of knowledge to learn how the property tax system works, how to protest high appraisals, and keep up with the budget process to ensure that their money is protected and not wasted. I will also work with the lawmakers in Austin to continue to help lower property taxes and change the laws to help taxpayers. It is very important to me to have a good working relationship with members of the legislature so that I can help share the concerns of the taxpayers that I talk to.
