In 2010 Scott was elected to represent Assembly District 13. During the legislative session Scott served on the Judicial, Health and Human Services and Transportation committees. In 2012 Scott was elected to the Senate to represent District 18. Throughout his time in the Senate Scott has become known for his work on education issues, passing legislation to create the Opportunity Scholarship and Education Savings Accounts. Hammond's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[19]

Job Creation: "...I will roll back spending, cut taxes and provide Nevada with a sound economical footing that will motivate job growth."
Education: "...My career has been dedicated to making sure our children receive the best education available. I believe that a good education is the cornerstone to a thriving community...."
Limited Government: "...We need to continue pushing for sound conservative polices that will improve the lives of Nevadans for many generations."

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Nevada

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states.  To contribute to the list of Nevada scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.

2023

In 2023, the Nevada State Legislature was in session from February 6 to June 5.

Legislators are scored on their stances on policies related to reproductive health issues.
Legislators are scored on environment and conservation issues.
Legislators are scored on their voting record concerning economic and education issues.
Legislators are scored on their votes on conservative issues.

The Nevada Policy Research Institute, a Nevada-based conservative-libertarian think tank, releases a "Legislative Report Card" evaluating members of the Nevada State Legislature on "each lawmaker's voting record on legislation impacting the degree of economic freedom and education reform." Bills determined by the Institute to be of greater significance are weighted accordingly. According to the Institute, "a legislator with a score above 50 is considered to be an ally of economic liberty."[21]

2011

Hammond received a score of 51.31 percent in the 2011 report card, ranking 22nd out of all 63 Nevada State Legislature members.[21]
