Campaign themes
2016
Nelson's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
| “ | Environment
Wisconsin has for many years been a leader in taking care of its lands, water and air. The State believes that these regulations are burdensome, but in reality the laws that protect our resources have proven over years to benefit the residents of Wisconsin. Local control is the most efficient and effective way for local bodies of government to protect and preserve our natural resources. Scott is a staunch advocate for local control from his experience at the County Board level. He will continue to advocate for this local control. Veterans Scott has always been a very active advocate for veterans and veterans issues. As a veteran, he understands the issues facing veterans. A high priority issue will be to keep Veteran Service Offices in each County and not allow the service related benefits to become a political issue. Scott will be on the frontlines to battle any changes at both the county and state level. Education Scott is a strong advocate for the University and public schools system. The defunding of these institutions has hurt the future of these forms of education. Scott will fight to make sure that the Wisconsin’s education system returns to that prominent role.[2] |
