April 1, 2024: Just 23 elections for seats in the House of Representatives will be truly competitive this November, according to the nonpartisan Cook Political Report. That’s just 5% of the 435 total seats up for election. In 1998, 164 seats, or 38%, were truly competitive. That’s a drop of 141 seats, or 86%, in just 26 years.[1]
