April 10, 2023: 111 years ago today, the Titanic set sail from Southampton, England, carrying 2224 passengers and crew. The ship was 175 feet tall, 92½ feet wide, and 883 feet long, with a maximum speed of 26 mph. It cost £1.5 million, equivalent to $141 million in 2023.
After four days, the Titanic hit an iceberg and sank, killing more than 1500 people. Just 706 survived.[1]
