April 12, 2018: A total of 309 women have already filed to run for the U.S. House of Representatives this November. That’s an all-time record, surpassing the 298 women who ran in 2012.[1]

That record-setting number is expected to grow because there is still time to file in nearly half the states.

Overall, Ballotpedia has tracked 2,199 people who have filed to run for U.S. House in 2018. Including Senate candidates, a total of 2,464 people are running for Congress.

Each weekday, Scott Rasmussen’s Number of the Day explores interesting and newsworthy topics at the intersection of culture, politics, and technology.
