April 12, 2023: Fifty-seven percent (57%) of voters favor a total ban of TikTok in the United States. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that, among those who use TikTok daily, just 38% support a ban.

The survey also found that, when told that TikTok is owned by a Chinese company and that some people have security concerns about it, support for a ban increases to 52% among daily TikTok users. Overall, 28% of voters use TikTok daily, 21% use it occasionally, and 51% never use it.

Methodology

The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on March 28-29, 2023. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
