April 22, 2025: The first Earth Day was observed 55 years ago on this day, April 22, 1970. Approximately 20 million people across the nation attended events to celebrate. There was a growing demand from the public to ensure the safety of air, land, and water. This demand would help establish the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).[1]
