April 3, 2024: Sixty-two percent (62%) of voters believe that parents have too little control over their children’s education, including 31% who say they have far too little control. A Scott Rasmussen national survey conducted by RMG Research found that just 17% say they have too much control. Fourteen percent (14%) say they have about the right amount.
The survey also found that 54% believe schools should teach cultural values and practices that reflect those of parents and the community at large. Just 29% say that schools should teach the values and practices of teachers and education experts.
Methodology
The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on March 25-26, 2024. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
