April 3, 2025: Thirteen states have now banned ranked-choice voting as municipalities decide on whether to adopt it.
Governors in Wyoming and West Virginia have joined 11 other states banning ranked-choice voting. Eleven other states also have legislative efforts to ban ranked-choice voting. In 2024, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, and Arizona rejected ballot measures to establish ranked-choice voting.
