April 30, 2019: Eighteen percent (18%) of voters nationwide believe that private health insurance should be eliminated. They believe that every American should be required to get their medical coverage through the federal government.[1]
However, a ScottRasmussen.com survey found that 82% believe every American should have a choice between buying health insurance from the government or a private company.
If private health insurance companies are eliminated, voters are concerned about what that would do to both the cost and quality of care.
Forty-eight percent (48%) believe that requiring everyone to get their insurance from the federal government would lead to higher health care prices. Just 29% believe the cost would go down
By a 42% to 21% margin, voters believe that requiring everyone to use the government program would lead the quality of care to get worse rather than better.
