April 8, 2026: Eighty-eight percent (88%) of voters say a driver’s license should be an acceptable form of photo ID if photo ID is required for voting. A Napolitan News Service national survey conducted by RMG Research found 74% also said a state-issued ID card should be acceptable, 62% said a passport, 54% a military ID, and 28% a student ID.
The survey also found 81% say if an ID, such as a driver’s license or military ID, is used for voting, it should indicate clearly that person is a U.S. citizen. Twelve percent (12%) disagree.
Methodology
The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on March 25-26, 2026. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
Scott Rasmussen is the president of RMG Research, Inc. and founder of the Napolitan Institute.
