August 13, 2018: Six vinyl records have been purchased by collectors for more than $100,000 each. Four of the six are by the Beatles, and one is by Elvis Presley. But the most expensive vinyl yet sold—for $2 million—was from rap collective Wu-Tang Clan.[1]

Vinyl records were a staple of the 50s and 60s music scene. However, they seemed to disappear completely in the face of emerging technologies. Fewer than a million copies were sold in 2005. That number has grown to more than 14 million today.[2] And there is a growing number of collectors who prefer the music quality of vinyl over streamed and compressed sound from digital sources.
