Scott Rasmussen's Number of the Day for August 21, 2018
The Number of the Day columns published on Ballotpedia reflect the views of the author.
August 21, 2018: Fifty-seven percent (57%) of Democrats have a favorable view of socialism. According to Gallup, that’s little changed from two years ago.[1]
However, the Democratic Party's favorable views of capitalism have fallen from 56% two years ago to 47% now. As a result, for the first time, Democrats now have a significantly more positive view of socialism than capitalism.
An earlier Number of the Day reported that 48% of Democrats now consider themselves liberals. That’s up dramatically over the past decade.
Republicans continue to hold more positive views of capitalism (71% favorable) and more negative views of socialism (16% favorable).
