August 24, 2023: In 2022, 1.5% of mail-in ballots received were rejected. This is equal to around 549,824 ballots out of 36,683,450 total mail-in ballots cast.
Twenty-seven percent (27%) of those ballots were rejected because of a non-matching signature, while 23% were because the ballot was returned after the deadline.
