August 26, 2025: Eighty-six years ago on August 26, 1939, the first Major League Baseball game was televised. The game was played by the Cincinnati Reds and the Brooklyn Dodgers in Brooklyn, New York. The broadcast of the game came during the World’s Fair that was being held in New York. The hope of the broadcast was to popularize both television, which had yet to become a staple in American homes, and sports television.[1]
