The Number of the Day columns published on Ballotpedia reflect the views of the author.
August 3, 2023: Sixty-one percent (61%) of registered voters are at least somewhat confident votes will be counted accurately in the next general election. A Scott Rasmussen National Survey found that, by a 3-to-1 margin (44% to 14%), voters believe that mail-in ballots are more likely to be fraudulent than in-person voting.
The survey also found that seventy-eight percent (78%) of voters favor requiring a driver’s license number or partial social security number along with a mail-in ballot.
Methodology
The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on July 24-25, 2023. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the -sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
