December 1, 2022: A large majority (80%) of voters believe that the federal government should promote policies that treat all Americans equally. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that just 10% believe the federal government should promote policies that provide preferences for certain individuals or groups.

However, the survey also found that just a third (35%) of voters believe the federal government does generally promote policies that treat all Americans equally, while half (50%) say that the federal government generally promotes policies that provide preferences for some over others.

Methodology

The survey of 1,200 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on November 15-16, 2022. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 2.8 percentage points.
