December 10, 2019: Sixty-five percent (65%) of American adults drink alcohol at least occasionally. A Gallup survey reports that 34% do not.[1]
Among those who do drink, nearly one-out-of-five (18%) sometimes drink more than they should. Five percent (5%) worry about their own drinking at least some of the time.[1]
The average person who does consume alcohol has about 4 drinks per week. However, 13% have at least 8 drinks a week.[1]
