December 4, 2023: Forty-eight percent (48%) of voters say that, in terms of their own personal lives, 2023 has been good (34%), excellent (13%), or one of the best years ever (1%). A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 50% of voters say the year has been fair (29%) or poor (21%).

The survey also found that 38% of voters think 2024 will be about as good as 2023, while 41% expect it to be at least somewhat better.

Methodology

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points. The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on November 27, 2023. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
