The Number of the Day columns published on Ballotpedia reflect the views of the author.
December 6, 2024: Fifty-one percent (51%) of voters strongly (36%) or somewhat (25%) favor a policy that would end the $7,500 subsidy paid by the government to someone who buys an electric vehicle. A Napolitan News Service national survey conducted by RMG Research found that 26% somewhat (14%) or strongly (12%) oppose such a proposal.
The survey also found that 31% of voters strongly (10%) or somewhat (21%) favor a proposal to create a federal framework for fully self-driving cars, relaxing rules to allow greater use of those cars. Fifty-six percent (56%) somewhat (21%) or strongly (35%) oppose this proposal.
Methodology
The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on November 18-19, 2024. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
Scott Rasmussen is the president of RMG Research, Inc.
