The Number of the Day columns published on Ballotpedia reflect the views of the author.
February 08, 2023: Two thirds (66%) of voters say that Medicaid should provide insurance only for low-income Americans and those who earn more should be removed from the program. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that a quarter (25%) think anyone who is on Medicaid today should be allowed to remain in the program regardless of how much they make.
The survey also found that 57% believe that allowing more flexibility for individuals to personalize their healthcare coverage would do more to increase the overall health of Americans than extending Medicaid to all. Thirty percent (30%) take the opposite view.
Methodology
The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on January 14-26, 2023. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
