February 11, 2022: Fifty-four percent (54%) of voters think it is important for a black woman to serve on the Supreme Court. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 38% say it's not important and 8% are not sure.[1]
Those totals include 29% who say it's very important and 20% who say it's not at all important.[1]
However, while seeing the goal as important, just 35% agree with President Biden's plan to only consider black women when making his Supreme Court nomination. Fifty-seven percent (57%) disagree.[1]
Eighty-two percent (82%) of Republicans disagree with Biden's approach. So do 56% of independent voters. However, 60% of Democrats take the opposite view and support the president's decision to only consider black women.[1]
Methodology
The survey of 1,200 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen from February 1-2, 2022. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Respondents were selected from a list of registered voters and through a process of random digital engagement. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
