February 13, 2024: Thirty-nine percent (39%) of voters believe that, over his lifetime, Jeff Bezos will pay either about the same amount (10%) or less (29%) in taxes than the average American. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 33% of voters believe that Bezos will pay either a little more (15%), about 100 times more (11), or 100,000 times more (7%) than the average American citizen. The last figure is closest to the truth.
The survey also found that 40% of voters believe that Jeff Bezos pays less as a percent of his income than the average American, while 29% believe he pays a greater percentage of his wealth than the average American does.
Methodology
The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on January 29-30, 2024. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
