February 18, 2022: Eighty percent (80%) of voters see police officers as generally good people doing a difficult job to the best of their ability. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that view is shared by 85% of white voters, 72% of Hispanic voters, and 60% of black voters.[1]
Just 16% of all voters disagree with that assessment.[1]
The survey also found that 56% believe America’s biggest cities are being destroyed by prosecutors who refuse to follow the law.[1]
By a 53% to 35% margin, voters believe that America’s legal system cares more about criminals than victims.[1]
Methodology
The survey of 1,200 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on February 15-16, 2022. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 2.8 percentage points.
