January 16, 2022: Eighty-eight percent (88%) of voters have a favorable view of Martin Luther King, Jr., including 54% who have a very favorable view. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 92% have a favorable opinion of Abraham Lincoln, 85% of George Washington, and 82% of Thomas Jefferson.

The survey also found that 28% of voters say that MLK Day is one of our nation’s most important holidays, and 19% will do something to celebrate it.

Methodology

The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on January 10-12, 2022. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 2.8 percentage points.
