January 2, 2019: A Job Creators Network/ScottRasmussen.com survey found that 62% of all Americans say they’d prefer to run their own business rather than work for someone else. Among millennials, that number jumps to 75%.[1]
Seventy-eight percent (78%) of black Americans want to run their own business along with 73% of Hispanics and 55% of white Americans.
“Running a business is very challenging, but there’s no other occupation that offers as much personal freedom and potential for upward mobility,” said Elaine Parker, president of the Job Creators Network Foundation. “It’s the American dream, and according to our data, it’s alive and well.”
The survey also found that 5% of all Americans are very likely to start their own business in 2019. Another 11% say they are somewhat likely to do so.
