January 23, 2026: Forty-two years ago, on January 23, 1984, Hulk Hogan defeated the Iron Sheik for the World Wrestling Federation Championship. While Hulk Hogan’s victory would be monumental for his career and for the World Wrestling Federation, the victory also drew broader mainstream attention. “Hulkamania” as it became known, caused Hulk Hogan and the WWF to enter unprecedented levels of superstardom.[1]
