July 10, 2019: On an average day, 96% of Americans over 15 enjoy leisure activities such as watching TV, socializing, or exercising. Men spend an average of 5.7 hours on leisure activities while women spend a bit less—4.9 hours.[1]
Adults over 75 have more leisure time than anybody else—an average of 7.8 hours daily. Those aged 25-44 have the least leisure time—4.0 hours daily.
Among all adults, watching TV is the top leisure activity. In fact, just over half of all leisure time—2.8 hours a day—is spent watching TV.
