July 27, 2023: Fifty-eight percent (58%) of voters favor ending regulations on businesses that have not been enforced for more than 10 years. A Scott Rasmussen National Survey found that just 23% are opposed.

These totals include 25% who strongly favor the proposal and only 6% who are strongly opposed.

Methodology

The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on July 17-18, 2023. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the -sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.

Survey Question

Finally, government agencies sometimes find very old regulations that have never been used and then charge companies with violating them. A proposal has been made to end this practice. If a government agency has not enforced a regulation for more than 10 years, the regulation would no longer be in effect. Would you favor or oppose this proposal?

  • 25%-Strongly favor
  • 33%-Somewhat favor
  • 17%-Somewhat oppose
  • 6%-Strongly oppose
  • 20%-Not sure
