July 8, 2024: Recall is the process of citizens removing elected officials before the end of their term. Nineteen (19) states allow for citizens to also be able to recall certain state officials.
Since the beginning of the year, 38 elected officials have been removed from their positions through recall. This is the highest number of recalls since Ballotpedia first began covering recalls in 2014.
