June 12, 2025: Six states have now banned ranked-choice-voting this year. On June 2, Governor Kim Reynolds (R) signed House File 954, making Iowa the latest to adopt the ban.

In the United States, a total of 17 states have banned ranked-choice voting. Of these 17 states, 15 had a Republican trifecta in state government while adopting the ban. Recently, Boston became the ninth of America’s largest 100 cities to adopt ranked-choice-voting.
