June 16, 2023: Eighty-two percent (82%) of voters believe that it is important for children to be raised in a home with both their mother and their father present. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that this includes 52% who say it is very important. Just 13% say it is not important.
The survey also found that 54% believe children who grow up without their father present are at a significant disadvantage over other children. Forty-six percent (46%) are aware that these children are more likely to live in poverty, but just 35% know that they are also much more likely to spend time in jail.
Methodology
The survey of 1,000 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on June 12-14, 2023. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the -sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
