June 17, 2025: Two-hundred and fifty years ago on June 17, 1775, the Battle of Bunker Hill took place. This battle would see roughly 1,000 colonial troops attempt to defend Bunker Hill from around 2,000 British troops. The placement of Bunker Hill was strategic as the colonists were attempting to prevent the British from getting to Boston. The American colonists would wind up losing this battle, but there was something Americans could hold their heads up for. The amount of casualties the British experienced was twice as many as the colonists. The British saw 200 troops die and another 800 wounded, but the Americans only had 100 deaths and more than 300 injured. This outcome gave Americans hope that they could in fact face off against the British, and the British realized this was going to be a hard war to fight.[1]
