June 2, 2025: Two-hundred and fifty-one years ago today, on June 2, 1774, the British enacted the Quartering Act on the American Colonies. This act, the fourth of what are known as the Coercive Acts, aimed to give British troops better quarters to stay in. Granted British troops were not required to stay in the private housing of American Colonists, the colonists were still very upset that soldiers would still be “quartered at the colonists’ expense."[1]
