June 21, 2022: Forty-two percent (42%) of Americans say they trust voters and their elected representatives more than government agencies and policy experts when it comes to establishing major regulations. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 31% trust government agencies and policy experts more, and 27% are not sure.
The survey also found that 47% are worried that the Environmental Protection Agency will go too far in regulating daily life in America, while 35% are worried it will not go far enough. Forty-six percent (46%) are worried that the Centers for Disease Control will go too far in regulating daily life, and 41% are worried it will not go far enough.
Methodology
The survey of 1,200 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on June 7-8, 2022. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 2.8 percentage points.
