June 23, 2022: Thirty-three percent (33%) of voters think it is likely that cryptocurrency will replace the U.S. dollar as the primary financial currency over the next generation, including 12% who think it is very likely. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 48% think it is not likely, including 20% who think it is not at all likely, and 18% are not sure.

The survey also found that just 28% of people say they have ever personally invested in cryptocurrency. Sixty-six percent (66%) have not, 4% have never heard of it, and 3% are not sure.

Methodology

The survey of 1,200 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on June 7-8, 2022. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 2.8 percentage points.
