June 3, 2019: One of the great challenges for any healthy political system is balancing the rights of individuals against the desires of the majority. In seeking the right balance, Americans continue to strongly embrace the nation’s commitment to individual freedom.
Seventy-two percent (72%) of voters nationwide believe it is more important to respect the individual rights and freedoms of all Americans than for the government to do what a majority of voters support. A ScottRasmussen.com national survey found that 28% take the opposite view.[1]
Consistent with that view is the fact that 71% believe there should be constitutional limits on the types of laws the president and Congress can pass. Just 11% want to eliminate such limits.
Each weekday, Scott Rasmussen’s Number of the Day explores interesting and newsworthy topics at the intersection of culture, politics, and technology.
