March 16, 2023: Two-thirds (66%) of candidates in 2022 were men. According to Ballotpedia research, 34% of all candidates were women. These numbers have been fairly consistent over recent years. In 2021, 61% of candidates were men and 39% were women. In 2020, 67% were men and 33% were women.
