The Number of the Day columns published on Ballotpedia reflect the views of the author.
March 6, 2024: Eighty-three (83%) of voters believe banks should not be allowed to close the accounts of customers who make purchases and charitable contributions of which the bank does not approve. A Scott Rasmussen national survey conducted by RMG Research found that only 9% of voters think banks should be able to close such accounts.
The survey also found that 87% of voters believe a person’s bank records and credit card purchases should be considered private information. Just 8% disagree.
Methodology
The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on February 26-27, 2024. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
