Scott Rasmussen's Number of the Day for March 7, 2018

March 7, 2018: Seventeen (17) Republican senators elected in 2016 won a larger share of the vote in their state than President Donald Trump. An analysis by Larry J. Sabato’s Crystal Ball found that Trump outperformed just five victorious GOP senators.[1]
The story was the same in House races, where the president did better than just 24 out of 241 victorious GOP candidates. Rhodes Cook, senior columnist for Sabato’s Crystal Ball, noted that our current president “had among the shortest coattails of any presidential winner going back to Dwight Eisenhower.”
The state-by-state totals are summarized below. For a more complete analysis, visit Larry J. Sabato’s Crystal Ball.
